ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The construction of a new multi-million dollar Rochester Police station could begin in the next few months.

The city plans to build a $16 million facility on East Main Street in the Beechwood neighborhood. Rochester City Council is expected to vote on the project Tuesday, with construction slated to start this fall.

In total, the city plans to build three new stations. The two others would be on Genesee Street and Lake Avenue.

A local Black Lives Matter Group "Free the People Roc" is asking neighbors to contact council members and urge them to reject the project, arguing the money could be better spent elsewhere.
