ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Rochester Hearing and Speech Center is known for its audiological diagnostics and assistive technology, but its services go far beyond that.
It also provides training, education, screening, and evaluations for 19 day care programs in the City of Rochester, and it serves as an early intervention center for children under three who may be at risk for developmental delays or disabilities. Once children age out of the early intervention period, the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) often refers children within the school district to RHSC for continued care.
Despite challenges created by social distacning, RHSC continues to serve our community's hearing and speech needs. News10NBC's Emily Putnam talked with the center's lead audiologist Dr. Gregory Horton Au.D CCC-A about how he and his team are embracing virtual client meetings, curbside services like hearing aid repar, and Better Hearing and Speech Month.
