ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — People from across our area came out to run or walk to raise awareness and funds to fight heart disease on Thursday.
This year's heart walk and run looked a little different than in years past. Instead of participants meeting all in one spot, several local companies hosted walks at their own sites with employees and family members.
Local companies, like Paychex, Consiliarium Group, and UR Medicine hosted their own walks with employees.
This is the American Heart Association's biggest fundraiser in the Rochester area.
"We use the funds to support all of our different programs that we have in the community, research that we fund here locally as well as around the world and around the country. we fund all of our education efforts as well and our advocacy," Jason Stulb with American Heart Association said.
The event also celebrates and honors survivors of heart attack, heart disease, and stroke.
