We're in the middle of the Annual Election Period (or AEP) for Medicare insurance. Meaning, if you're 65 or turning 65 and you're considering making a change to your health insurance, you have until December 7th to do it.

Excellus BlueCross/BlueShield Medicare Sales Representative Elisa Brescia is an expert in all things Medicare, and she spoke with News10NBC's Emily Putnam about what you need to know if you're consdiering making a change.

Emily Putnam: Who do you think should be paying attention to the AEP during this period?
Elisa Brescia: Anyone who is already on Medicare Part A and Part B, anyone enrolled in a direct-pay Medicare advantage plan or a Medicare supplement plan. You know, plans and benefits along with your health conditions and your prescriptions can change from year to year, so it's always a good idea to review your options.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) gave Excellus BlueCross/BlueShield a 5-star rating for 2022 for outstanding service to members. For six years straight, BC/BS' Medicare Part D prescription drug plan also received a 5-star rating. To learn more about the 5-star special enrollment period, click here
