We're in the middle of the Annual Election Period (or AEP) for Medicare insurance. Meaning, if you're 65 or turning 65 and you're considering making a change to your health insurance, you have until December 7th to do it.

Excellus BlueCross BlueShield Medicare Sales Representative Elisa Brescia is an expert in all things Medicare, and she spoke with News10NBC's Emily Putnam about what you need to know if you're considering making a change.

Emily Putnam: Who do you think should be paying attention to the AEP during this period?
Elisa Brescia: Anyone who is already on Medicare Part A and Part B, anyone enrolled in a direct-pay Medicare advantage plan or a Medicare supplement plan. You know, plans and benefits along with your health conditions and your prescriptions can change from year to year, so it's always a good idea to review your options.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) gave Excellus BlueCross BlueShield a 5-star rating for 2022 for outstanding service to members. For six years straight, Excellus BCBS Medicare Part D prescription drug plan also received a 5-star rating. To learn more about the 5-star special enrollment period, click here
