ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A job was held Friday in Rochester to try and connect those who were laid off from the Rochester City School District with new employers.

The Rochester Chamber of Commerce, the City of Rochester and the Rochester City School District hosted the job fair at the Memorial Art Gallery on Friday.

More than 100 employees were laid off because of the district's financial crisis.

Employers like BOCES, the Pittsford, Fairport, Gates-Chili, Churchville-Chili, Webster, Wheatland-Chili, and Holley School Districts, the University of Rochester and the New York State Department of Labor were there.

It was also an opportunity for others in the community to find jobs.

"It's a very good experience for myself. I've been in Rochester since I was 10, so [it's an] excellent opportunity for me to start my way in life," Shakeaya Stevens said.

Financial advising services were also available.
