Rochester man now facing attempted murder charge for May shooting on South Clinton

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Rochester man is facing upgraded charges after police say he shot another man six times back in May.

It happened on May 24 near the Valero gas station on South Clinton Avenue near the South Goodman Street intersection.

The victim survived his injuries and Phillip Owens, 35, of Rochester was initially charged with first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon for the shooting.

A grand jury rising report released to the media Wednesday shows Owens is now charged with second degree attempted murder, first degree assault, three counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, second and fourth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree.
