17-year-old hurt in shooting on city's west side

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A 17-year-old is injured after a shooting on Rochester’s west side Tuesday afternoon.

It happened near the intersection of Jay and Saxton streets at around 1:30 p.m.

Police responded to a call of a person shot and found a 17-year-old boy from Rochester who had been shot at least once in the lower body.

He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with what police say are non-life-threatening injuries.

No suspects are in custody. Police are asking anyone with information to call 911 or CrimeStoppers at 585-423-9300.
