ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Rochester Police Locust Club will discuss the death of Daniel Prude and respond to issues previously raised by Mayor Lovely Warren Friday.

The press conference is expected to start at 10:30 a.m. News10NBC will stream it in the video player below. Click here to watch if you're having trouble seeing the video on your mobile device.

Prude, 41, died March 30 after he was taken off life support — seven days after his encounter with police on Jefferson Avenue. Just days after his death, the medical examiner ruled Prude’s death a homicide, saying he died of complications of asphyxia due to physical restraint, excited delirium, and PCP.

Since the body camera video of the incident was released Wednesday, activists have been calling for the immediate resignation of Warren and Rochester Police Chief La’Ron Singletary and the prosecution of the officers involved.

On Thursday, Warren announced the seven officers involved in the case were suspended with pay.

The mayor also claimed she didn't know about the incident until Aug. 4, as Singletary had not properly briefed her about the incident. Warren also said the police chief will be officially reprimanded, and ordered to take steps to improve the department's response to mental health calls.

The club is a union that represents 740 law enforcement officers who work for the City of Rochester dedicated to protecting the rights of police officers.
