Rochester Police make arrest in catalytic converter thefts

ROCHESTER, N.Y.(WHEC)— Rochester Police announced Monday the arrest of a man they say is connected to thefts of catalytic converters across the city.

Police charged Michael Hastings, 28 with criminal mischief in the third degree and petit larceny for his involvement in the thefts. This is a story News10NBC has reported on extensively over the last month as a series of businesses, and even the Salvation Army have reported stolen converters. Some of the thefts have been caught on camera. Police did not disclose any specific thefts, or how many  Hastings is tied to.

RPD says it is still actively working on these investigations and are asking anyone with information about these thefts, to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 423-9300.
