ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— Rochester Police say the man accused of shooting and killing another man on Halloween was captured by police in Ohio.

RPD Friday announced 36-year old Lance Bullard was arrested in Akron, Ohio Wednesday by a group including RPD's Major Crimes Investigators and the US Marshall’s Violent Felony Fugitive Task Force.

Police say Bullard shot and killed  31-year old David Yaw near the corner of Dewey Avenue and Knickerbocker Avenue sometime before 6:30 a.m.  Yaw was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers believe Yaw and Bullard got into an argument which then led to Bullard shooting Yaw.

Investigators were able to identify Bullard as a suspect, which led to them finding him in another state.

Bullard was charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Police say  Bullard can't own a gun because of multiple prior felony convictions.

In addition to his initial charges, RPD says investigators found a gun in a search warrant back in Akron, but it was not the gun used to kill Yaw. No further charges have been pressed.

Bullard is currently in jail in Akron, but he expected to be brought back to Rochester within the next week to two weeks to be arraigned.
