ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester Regional Health is getting ready for a surge of patients.
As of Thursday, more than 5,300 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized in New York.
Rochester Regional will set up drive-thru tents at three more locations in our area.
Patients can drive up and be screened in their cars.
The new tents aren't just for patients being tested for COVID-19.
Patients with other health issues will be seen in them as well, as part of an effort to cut down on potential exposure to the virus.
"We're trying to, if at all possible, each of the sites has a set up where we can sort of do a serpentine line of cars," Ethan Vaina of Rochester Regional Health said. "I would say 100 cars can be in line waiting for each of the tents."
The tents will be open at Unity Hospital in Greece from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m., at Clifton Springs hospital from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Monday, March 30.
Rochester Regional says you should call your primary care provider before showing up at one of the locations.
