ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester Police have arrested a man for a double shooting on Phelps Avenue near Lake Avenue that left one man dead and another injured last month.

It happened on April 15. The Rochester Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit said investigators determined the double shooting occurred
during the course of a robbery, and that the suspect was identified as 39-year-old Parolee Jarrelle Williams.

Investigators say shortly after the shooting, Williams fled to the State of Alabama. With the help of the United States Marshals Violent Felony Fugitive Task Force, New York State Police Monroe County Probation and NYS Parole Officers in addition to law enforcement in Alabama, Williams was arrested last week and extradited back to Rochester Friday.

Police say he was charged with second degree murder, attempted murder, first degree robbery and multiple counts of second degree criminal possession of a weapon. Williams is currently on parole for an assault conviction and according to police he has two prior felony convictions and three prior misdemeanor convictions.

He was also charged with parole absconding.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Saturday morning.
