ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Two people were taken into custody Friday night in connection to an armed carjacking that occurred on Wednesday.
The Rochester Police Department says around 10:30 p.m. in the area of Avenue C and Hollenbeck Street an officer spotted a stolen vehicle.
Police say the vehicle was taken in a gunpoint robbery in Rochester on Wednesday. When officers tried to stop the vehicle it fled. Officers pursued the vehicle for several minutes until the vehicle collided with two vehicles on Lyell Avenue and Frankfort Street.
The vehicle came to a stop and the two suspects from the vehicle, a 16-year-old boy and a 22-year-old woman, both city residents, were taken into custody.
The two suspects complained of pain at the scene and were transported to a local hospital where they are being evaluated and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
One occupant from one of the uninvolved vehicles was also transported to the hospital but is expected to be treated and released.
Gates Police say the two people that were arrested were not involved in the deadly carjacking on Buell Road.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with additional information on the carjackings is asked to call 911.
