ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) -- The Salvation Army is stepping up to help people in need during this coronavirus crisis.

On Wednesday, the nonprofit ran its mobile market at the West Avenue Salvation Army location.

The markets usually set up for people to come up and pick out their own foods. However, on Wednesday, the Salvation Army worked with Foodlink to create a safer way to distribute the food.

"They've boxed all the food up for us," said Lt. Hilary Jones of the Salvation Army. "And we're, as people come through, we're giving them fresh bread and a box of food, then getting them on their way, so that people aren't congregating together here and keeping them safe."

On Thursday, a kitchen on wheels will be taken out into the Rochester community for the homeless.

Anyone who needs food can also visit the pantry location at 70 Liberty Pole Way during normal business hours.
