ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The new snow leopard cub at the Seneca Park Zoo is making good progress, according to an update from County Executive Adam Bello on Sunday.

The male cub, whose birth was announced on Saturday, is said to have been stabilized and even put on a "few grams of weight", according to the tweet from Bello.

The as-yet-unnamed cub had to be taken away from his mother, Timila, after worries by the veterinary staff about his condition and Timila's behavior. When first examined, the cub was hypothermic and dehydrated. He will be hand-raised going forward.

Bello's tweet said that the zoo's staff will continue to monitor the young leopard 24/7.
