ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) —  The Strong National Museum of Play announced Thursday a naming partnership with ESL Federal Credit Union on the museum's new "Digital Worlds" expansion project.

Museum organizers said the credit union committed  $1.5 million to the project and will hold the naming rights for roughly 25 years.

The expansion is part of a two-phase project, phase one of the expansion was a new parking garageThe new 90,000 square foot wing will house two exhibits—High Score and Level Up, which will provide an interactive look at the history of video games. This includes the World Video Game Hall of Fame exhibit.

"The Digital Worlds experience really focuses on the importance of video games in terms of play today. It gives people the opportunity to both explore the history and also be part of the video game themselves," Strong President and CEO Steve Dubnik said. "It's gonna be a very unique experience… something that's not done to our knowledge anywhere else in the world."

The projects were previously delayed by the pandemic
