ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – The Texas Supreme Court has blocked an order that allowed abortions to resume in the state, following the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

Texas’ trigger law bans abortions almost entirely, and was set to take effect in 30 days after the Supreme Court’s historic ruling. However, an order by a Harris County judge on Tuesday allowed Texas clinics to continue performing abortions, under the state’s "heartbeat law."

Texas attorney general Ken Paxton quickly asked the state’s highest court to temporarily put that order on hold, and the Texas Supreme Court overturned the lower court’s ruling.

It’s not immediately clear whether the clinics in Texas that resumed performing abortions will halt services again.
