GREECE, N.Y. (WHEC)— As thousands of people in our area are still without power Monday, the Town of Greece distributed dry ice and bottled water to those impacted.

The power outages came after powerful winds ripped through the area Saturday.

News10NBC stopped by the town’s Department of Public Works on Long Pond Road as coordinators handed out supplies. People could get one case of water per household. One man we spoke with, Lee Nelson, was there to help out his brother.

"He had a tree come down on his garage, take out his power," Nelson said. "He’s the only one affected in that direct area, you know it’s just dumb luck."

A morning update from the county says most of the remaining outages are in the town. RG&E says outages are expected to be repaired by end of the day Monday. National Grid says it has roughly 2,125 customers without power still.

The Town of Gates will be holding a similar giveaway from noon to 5 p.m. at the town hall, which is on Buffalo Road.
