ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester Police say the suspect in the Glendale Park triple shooting where a 3-year-old and two adults were injured, and another Rochester man were arrested and charged after they led police on a chase Saturday evening.
Police say they believe Richard Burchard-Lopez, 23, was responsible for the shooting.
They say they saw him driving a car on the 500 block of Garson Avenue at around 8:33 p.m. Saturday with Anthony Quinones, 22, inside and attempted to pull them over.
Police say the suspects fled, but the chase only lasted about 30 seconds because the suspects hit a tree near Fraser Street and Cedarwood Terrace. The two tried to run. Police say they arrested Burchard-Lopez without incident but Quinones pointed a handgun at police.
Police say an officer fired his service pistol but did not hit Quinones. He initially got away but after a 20-minute search with the help of a helicopter, he was apprehended and the loaded gun was confiscated. Police say no one was hurt.
Burchard-Lopez was charged with two counts of first and second degree assault and second degree criminal possession of a weapon for the Glendale Park shooting, police say.
Quinones was charged with menacing a police officer for the events surrounding his arrest, police say.
The two were arraigned on the charges in Rochester City Court Monday morning. Both pleaded not guilty.
Burchard-Lopez is being held on $75,000 cash bail, $150,000 bond, $250,000 partially secured bond and Quinones is being held on $10,000 cash bail, $50,000 bond, $75,000 partially secured bond.
