ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A three-year renewal of the partnership between the University of Rochester and East High School was approved by the New York State Education Department Monday.

The Educational Partnership Organization managed through the U of R’s Warner School of Education will continue through 2025.

The U of R stepped in following East High was slated to close in 2015 after years of failing to meet state standards.

Since it stepped in, the U of R says East High’s four-year graduation rate has risen from 33% in 2014-15 to 85% in 2020-21, annual suspensions have dropped 90%, the dropout rate decreased from 41% in 2014-15 to 15% and attendance increased from 77% in 2014-15 to 90%.
