ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The United Way and LeChase Construction announced a new initiative on Wednesday that would provide services to help local nonprofits in need.
The new initiative is called Built United, which will provide direct construction and building services to 11 local nonprofits in need.
"Everyone deserves a safe place and our nonprofits need that investment to make that happen," Jamie Saunders, President and CEO of United Way said.
The project will range from light construction and landscaping to painting and general beautification.
The idea came from Bill Goodrich, CEO of LeChase Construction and this year's United Way campaign manager.
"We want to make a difference in these agencies. We're builders, so perhaps some of the agencies' facilities could use some upgrades (21). What if we put together a group throughout the entire region of some contractors that want to give back to the community," Bill Goodrich said.
Built United will help with improvement projects at 11 organizations over the next two months.
