ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — There's a rally planned in Rochester protesting school reopening plans Monday.

The Rochester Organization of Rank and File Educators has organized a rally to demand public schools use distance learning until it is safe to return for everyone. The group is made up of members from local teachers’ unions, parents and students.

They want Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Rochester City School District Superintendent Dr. Lesli Meyers-Small to stop the reopening of schools until Monroe County reports no new cases of COVID-19 for at least a 14-day period.

The rally will take place on the 490 overpass at Cobbs Hill Park, off Culver Road, at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
