ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The University of Rochester Medical Center says one of its most well-known doctors has died.
She died after a fall on a ski trip in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Dolomites, Italy on Feb. 13. She was 51 years old.
Dr. Mina Chung worked as a Retinal Specialist at URMC's Flaum Eye Institute since 2002. Her work included helping blind children see and furthering the study of retinal disease.
She was also a member of the center's corneal transplant team.
Chung earned her M.D. at the Yale School of Medicine in 1994.
Memorial service arrangements will be announced later. For now, dozens of her former colleagues have left messages on a memorial website.
