RIF: Veterans Outreach Center holds virtual Stars and Stripes gala

Created: November 01, 2020 09:02 PM

The Veterans Outreach Center has served the Rochester community for 47 years.

The organization offers a host of services for veterans: three homeless shelters, a permanent affordable housing complex with 33 apartments, training and assistance programs, laundry services, a barbershop, peer support groups, and the list goes on.

Executive Director and U.S. Army veteran Laura Stradley said "If a veteran needs anything, anything that they can think of, we probably either have it here or we certainly know who else in the community can provide it and we'll make those referrals for the veteran directly."

Typically the VOC holds its signature Stars and Stripes gala in-person at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center. This year, like many other events, it's going virtual.

It's set to take place online this Friday, November 6 at 7 p.m. "We still really wanted to share our message, and a message of I think hope and how far VOC has come over the last 47 years and what's in store for the future," said Stradley.
