ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Buffalo woman accused of stealing an ambulance from the Utica area and crashing it into the Irondequoit Bay on Sunday was released under supervision Thursday.

Vanessa Armstead, 32, is facing charges of second-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree criminal trespass, and two counts of second-degree criminal mischief in connection to the incident.

At the Thursday hearing, prosecutors stated that Kunkel Ambulance believes the loss of the ambulance will cost them close to $250,000.

She also allegedly crashed through the gate at the Newport Yacht Club in Irondequoit before crashing into the bay.

Armstead is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Irondequoit Friday morning.
