ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The YWCA of Rochester & Monroe County says it’s in urgent need.
As the area deals with high unemployment due to executive orders intended to limit the spread of COVID-19, the YWCA a says it needs help to be able to provide for hundreds of women and children under the organization's care.
The organization says its emergency shelter and housing programs are strained in the wake of COVID-19.
The YWCA is now asking for money and supplies.
"For our folks who are in our shelter, they want to find a job, they want to find an apartment, they want to find the things they need to live independently, but right now our community is shut down," CEO of YWCA Angela Panzarella said.
