ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Stubborn lake flakes that have been delivering a fresh coating of snow to towns close to Lake Ontario Friday evening come to an end as the wind shifts out of the south, and pushes that snow back out over the lake.

We'll also see a clearing sky. This will allow ideal radiational cooling conditions tonight, meaning temperatures will drop quickly. Many spots away from the lake will wake up below zero, with wind chills anywhere from -10 to -20 below zero, despite having a light wind.

We'll come close to the record low of -9 Saturday morning, set back in 2005. We're forecasting a low of -7 at the Rochester airport. Lots of sunshine to start Saturday will begin to fade by the afternoon as clouds thicken from the west ahead of our next cold front.

This will bring scattered snow showers and some areas of lake effect snow to the region on Sunday. In all, expect very little accumulation, with most seeing a coating to an inch, maybe two on Sunday. Temperatures both Saturday and Sunday climb back into the 20s by the afternoon. But, we'll drop back into the single digits by Monday morning.

Our next chance of area-wide snow will come Monday night into Tuesday, with a fast-moving clipper passing overhead. This will spread an area-wide inch or two of snow, with some locally higher amounts due to lake enhancement and some lake effect. So, some may be doing a little more shoveling by the middle of next week, but no big snows in the immediate future. This clipper will draw in another round of Arctic air by Wednesday and Thursday, with highs dropping into the teens, and lows close to zero once again.

Bills in Kansas City: For those fans who are making the trip to Kansas City, it'll be a chilly Sunday, but nothing out of the ordinary for us western New Yorkers. Temperatures at game time will be in the mid-30s under a mainly clear sky. Temperatures will drop a few degrees into the lower 30s by the 2nd half, with a light wind. So, pack your winter gear, but weather shouldn't be a factor as far as the players and the game go.
