First Alert Weather: A warmup this week gets throttled by another cold front

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— For your Sunday, we will continue to track lake effect rain showers moving in from the northwest. Out over Lake Ontario, a lake shower will be capable of producing a waterspout or two.

Sunday will not be a washout, but it will be under mainly cloudy skies. We will also remain on the cool side as highs end up in the mid and upper 50s this afternoon.

We will also turn breezy once again this afternoon with gusts near 30 mph along the lakeshore and gusts near 20 mph for the rest of the region. Lake showers and cool conditions continue through Monday before a warmup arrives Tuesday. Starting Tuesday, highs will make their way back into the mid-60s and then near 70 for Wednesday.

Both days will come with plenty of sunshine, but it does not last too long as a potent cold front takes aim at us once again.

A Cold front will swing through on Thursday with scattered showers and breezy conditions. Flooding is not a concern, nor is damaging wind gusts, but this front will bring another cold air injection. Highs behind this front and into next weekend will drop into the mid and low 50s with overnight lows in the low 40s and the chance for a few 30s. We will also deal with lake effect rain showers into next weekend with the cold air aloft, but a washout of a weekend is not expected.
