ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Highs on Friday were on par with average highs for Oct. 1 across the Rochester region, and we'll keep that cool trend going into Saturday morning.
The sky will become mainly clear, and temperatures away from Lake Ontario will drop into the 40s for many. The record low for Saturday morning sits at 47°, set back in 1891. The forecast low at the Rochester airport is 50°, but there's a chance that record low could be challenged.
Tune in to News10NBC Today Saturday morning with meteorologist Alex Bielfeld to see if any records will be broken!
Saturday will easily be the weekend winner, and the day for outdoor activities if you have any big plans. We'll see a good deal of sun, and temperatures warming up nicely back into the mid-70s. We'll see an increase in afternoon clouds ahead of our next system, but any showers should largely hold off until sunset.
Sunday will be a completely different story, with off and on showers and a few storms, mainly in the afternoon, and in the Finger Lakes. Severe storms aren't in the forecast, so we remain green on the First Alert Threat Tracker.
Nice next week: We'll start off the new work week with a clearing sky, and still a big cool, as highs will hold in the lower 70s. But, we'll see a slow and steady warming trend through the week as our upper-level trough loosens its grip over the Northeast. Temperatures will rebound back to more seasonable warmth in the upper 70s and lower 80s by the end of the week, with only slight rain chances during the afternoon hours Wednesday through Friday.
