ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) - So, we have another opportunity to hit 90 degrees tomorrow so let's get a look at where we stand in terms of 90-degree days so far this year and some other statistics around 90-degree days.
So far this season, we have had a total of three 90-degree days and all of those days have occurred in June. Now on average, we see around 10 days per year in which we see 90 degrees, and that is from 1926.
It is interesting to note that I say since 1926 because since 1990 we only average around 8 days per year. The year with the most 90-degree days.
That was a long time ago, back in 1952 we had 32 days in which we hit 90 degrees here in Rochester.
However, our longest heatwave where we hit 90 degrees consecutively was in 1973. From the stretch of August 28th to September 5 which is 9 days.
It's also cool to note that that occurred late in the Summer months.
