ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — We've enjoyed a lovely stretch of spring weather, but we're heading toward summer on Thursday.
We'll see a mainly clear sky overnight with just some high clouds. Temperatures will remain a bit milder compared to recent nights, holding in the mid and upper 40s. Thursday will be a beauty, with abundant sunshine and temperatures well above average.
Our average high is in the lower 50s, and we're forecast mid to upper 70s. You might be wondering if we'll set a record? Not likely, but it may be close. Our official forecast is 77 degrees, and our record high for Thursday stands at 80 from 1991. There may be a few unofficial readings of 80 across the region, but remember that our local records are kept at the Rochester airport. We'll be watching the thermometer tomorrow!
Friday and Saturday also remain quite mild, with highs near 70 on Friday, but we'll dodge a few morning/midday raindrops, followed by clearing. Saturday looks dry, and may very well be the warmest day of the bunch out ahead of our next weather maker, which will bring some beneficial rain by Sunday.
Return to "normal": The rain on Sunday will signal a slow but steady decline in our temperatures, as a stubborn upper level low will finally begin to open up and move east, bringing temperatures back into the 60s to start the week, and we may end next week in the 40s for highs. We will also see a return to more unsettled weather, with off-and-on rain showers, though no one day will be a washout and more clouds.
