ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Most of the region did stay dry today with a fair amount of sunshine. However, areas south of the Thruway got into some rounds of rain along the lake breeze boundary. By tonight, the chance for showers does decrease for areas south of Rochester but not completely. Otherwise, it will be cool and mainly cloudy with a low around 40°.
To start the workweek, we will have temperatures climbing into the upper 50s and low 60s with sunshine returning to Rochester. There is the chance for some showers to develop, again, for areas in the Southern Tier. However, the best chance for some widespread rain will arrive by Monday night ahead of a cold front that will slice through the area. Temperatures on Monday night will drop to around the 40° mark.
As we look ahead to Tuesday, this is where things get interesting. Rain showers will move through early in the day and then the clouds will continue to hang around as temperatures will hang around the low to mid-40s. This is just the start of a noticeably cooler weather pattern is settling in across Rochester.
For Wednesday, temperatures will struggle to even get into the upper 30s and low 40s. Expect rain showers to begin early in the day with a transition over to some wet snow late in the day. The potential for accumulation is quite low since the ground is so warm, however, some measurable snow cannot be ruled out for areas at higher elevations and in pockets of the Southern Tier.
