ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — We have had another gorgeous start with plenty of sun and comfortable conditions as temperatures started off near 60. However, the weather begins to change as we head into the afternoon hours today.

An area of low pressure will bring unsettled weather for parts of the viewing area today. This afternoon showers and storms will be possible, and the best locations to see a shower or storm will be along the Finger Lakes. Storms begin to pop after 1 p.m. today, and they continue into late this evening. A storm or two may be on the strong side with gusty winds and small hail. Most of us will remain on the dry side this afternoon, but as we head into the afternoon hours everyone is still at risk for a storm so you want to keep your eyes to the skies later on. Storms fizzle tonight as the sun sets, but another round of showers is expected as we start off the workweek.

Low pressure, which will bring us storms this afternoon, will slowly move north into Canada and keep us on the unsettled side with showers for Monday. Just like today, many of us will be on the dry side but a few areas will again see showers and they may be heavy at times. Starting off the day most of us will be on the dry side, and the dry weather continues into the late morning hours before clouds increase during the afternoon and deliver a few showers for us locally. Shower chances will continue into the evening commute on Monday and rain may also be heavy at times before shower chances diminish Monday night. Rainfall will be beneficial for many, but overall accumulation will be on the light side over the next two days. Rain will generally accumulate between a tenth and half an inch with many of us on the lighter side of that range. Localized heavier amounts will also be possible, just depending on where the heavier showers set up, and once again the best chance will be along the Finger Lakes.
