ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — As promised, we spent much of Wednesday afternoon in the 40s, but that changes tonight.
A cold front dropping across the area will drop our temperatures back into the 20s by Thursday morning, and hold in the 20s for much of the day. This colder air will trigger a few lake enhanced snow showers, but these will be light, with little more than a dusting or coating for the majority of the area. Any flakes end early, and we should see some sunshine return through the rest of the day. But, it won't help much with the colder air.
Brisk winds will make the 20s feel more like the teens, and those wind chills will drop closer to zero by Friday morning. Friday will be another pretty looking day, but feeling quite cold. Gusty winds up to 35 mph out of the north will make it feel like the single digits and lower teens much of the day.
The weekend: We keep the chill around both Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the upper 20s and lower 30s, along with a good deal of sun, and just a few flakes to start the weekend.
A warmup awaits! Next week will feature a nice warming trend, with highs back into the 40s on Monday, 50s on Tuesday, and mid-50s Wednesday and Thursday before slowly dropping back Friday and into the weekend. Next week will also feature very quiet weather for March standards, with mainly dry weather through Wednesday, and some rain showers returning Thursday and Friday.
