ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Our stretch of dry & warm October weather is coming to an end. Moisture will begin to move in overnight, with a passing shower two, along with thickening clouds.

Overall, it'll be a dry and warm start to Friday. Temperatures will climb from the lower 60s into the lower to mid-70s under a mostly cloudy sky, but mostly dry conditions. Some showers and a few storms will begin to develop by Friday afternoon and evening. The severe weather threat is low, but a storm or two may produce gust winds around sunset Friday.

That batch of rain will lift northward by midnight, with the main wave of rain arriving early Saturday morning. The heaviest rain will fall during the morning hours across the Rochester region, with some embedded thunder possible. It'll be a soaking morning with many areas picking up a good half-inch to an inch of rain.

There are no First Alert Weather Days up for now, but the weather team will be monitoring the data closely, and update you online and on-air if a Yellow Alert is issued. The steady rain tapers to more scattered showers Saturday afternoon as the cold front pulls east. Temperatures will fall into the 50s and winds will pick up to 30-35 mph. Some lake effect rain showers will begin to develop Saturday night into much of Sunday, adding to rainfall totals southeast of the lakes. Sunday will be blustery and chillier with a distinct fall feel to the air. Any showers will end early Monday, with some afternoon sun returning, but we'll remain cooler than average, with highs in the mid-50s.

A big bubble of high pressure will build in over the Great Lakes and Northeast late Monday through Wednesday, bringing a return to sunny and dry weather. Temperatures will rebound back into the 60s on Tuesday and Wednesday before another disturbance brings more clouds and a few showers by next Thursday.
