ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — We've enjoyed a lovely stretch of sunny and dry weather much of this week, but that will change on Friday.

A clear sky to start Thursday night will slowly cloud up a bit by Friday morning. Any early sun Friday fades with some showers moving in midday. If we can clear the sky out somewhat, we may see some isolated storms firing Friday afternoon. There is a slight chance a few of those could be strong. Because of that, we've issued a Yellow Alert for Friday. That being said, confidence in severe weather is low, and a good portion of the day may end up dry. Meanwhile, severe storms are likely Friday morning and again overnight in Ohio and western Pennsylvania.

The weekend: Saturday will still be the wetter of the weekend days with some lingering showers and isolated thunderstorms, especially through early afternoon, before drier air returns by evening. Highs on Friday and Saturday will top out near 80, with a bit more humidity. Sunday still looks mainly dry, though we may see an isolated passing shower. Once again, highs will likely reach the lower 80s.

Next week: We'll crank up the heat for one day on Monday, with highs in the upper 80s before another round of showers and storms move in by afternoon/evening. There's a good chance we also see an area-wide rain on Tuesday, followed by much cooler air later Tuesday and into Wednesday, before returning to closer to average temperatures later next week.
