ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — We spent another day well above average in terms of temperatures, with highs into the 70s again on Wednesday, and we'll do it again Thursday and Friday.

As far as rain goes, we'll see little more than a brief shower late Thursday, with a better chance for scattered showers on Friday. We may get some thunder with the showers Friday evening.

The bottom drops out over the weekend. A strong area of low pressure moves right over us on Saturday. There will be a tropical connection to this rain, as the remnants of Hurricane Pamela from the Pacific tracks northeastward into western New York. So, periods of rain on Saturday will tend to be moisture loaded, with moderate rain at times. At this point, plan on a washout on Saturday, but the exact timing may change a little bit, so we'll keep you updated right here online and on-air. But bottom line - expect a good half-inch of rain on Saturday, followed by a blast of more fall-like air on Sunday. It'll be cool enough for some lake-enhanced rain on Sunday into early Monday morning.

Speaking of temperatures, highs will drop from the 70s into the 60s on Saturday, then hold in the 50s for highs on Sunday and Monday. Overnight lows will begin to drop into the 40s, with some interior frost possible early to mid next week as high pressure builds in overhead. That high will also bring a return to dry weather later on Monday and a good deal of sun through the middle of next week.
