ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The non-stop soaking rain on Tuesday set a brand new record at the Frederick Douglass-Greater Rochester International Airport.

As of Tuesday night, we recorded 1.78" at the Rochester airport, breaking the old record of 1.74" set nearly 150 years ago, in 1872.

Even higher amounts were recorded east of Rochester in the Finger Lakes, where places like Clifton Springs recorded more than 2" of rain. Some of these locations also saw some flooding issues, including flooded roads and a few buildings. This is all due to the impressive nor'easter that caused widespread flooding in eastern New York State, and damaging winds in coastal New England Tuesday.

Rain will come to an end overnight, and we'll look forward to dry weather on Wednesday and Thursday to help the water recede. Another round of rain, though not nearly as heavy as Tuesday's rain, will arrive later on Friday.
