ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — It's a quiet start across the region, but storms will arrive later this morning.

Our first round of thunderstorms will move in from the west around 8 a.m. this morning ahead of our cold front. Our second round of thunderstorms will move in around lunchtime as the cold front also swings through. Storms this morning and afternoon will have the potential to be on the stronger side with gusty winds and small hail. Also, we may see rainfall totals for localized areas near 1 inch by the evening hours today which will bring the threat for flash flooding. The flash flood threat will be along creeks and streams, as well as low-lying areas. Most of the region will see rainfall accumulations between .25" and .5" with no threat the flash flooding. Thunderstorms will move out of the region around 4 this afternoon, and we will be left with lingering showers through the evening hours and into early tonight before skies clear late.
