PENFIELD, N.Y. (WHEC) — "I love running, it keeps me focused, it keeps me driven, something I've always enjoyed," Penfield’s Alison Getz said.

A sectional champion on the soccer field, Penfield's Alison Getz turns her focus to the track, and this year has been her best yet.

"I PR'd in all of my events this year. I committed to a Division 1 school. I'm really excited to keep running next year. It's one of my passions," Getz said.

Next year, Alison will run for Binghamton University, where she will study business, a field she was prepared for prior to her induction into the National Honor Society.

"My parents were really proud. I know I was really proud. It's a hard thing to do to play varsity sports for 3 seasons and still achieve good grades," Getz said.

When she's not studying or running, Alison maintains her own website to showcase her artwork: A mixture of photography, films and drawings.

"That really helps me show something about society that I view and show other people a view other than their own," said Getz.

Congratulations Alison Getz, the News10NBC Scholar-Athlete of the Week presented by Nixon Peabody and the Ide Family of Dealerships!
