HENRIETTA, N.Y. (WHEC) — She just might be the next great runner to come from Rush-Henrietta. Jaelyn Davis has more than half a dozen Sectional titles when you account for her individual success as well as her team's.
"I think it was really great,” Jaelyn said. “Especially coming off so many years of participating with so many legends of Rush-Henrietta, it was so nice to be part of the history and a part of my team."
Jaelyn will continue with track in college. She signed to run track and field at Stony Brook and plans to major in health science to become an athletic trainer.
“I'm a person who likes to help people and I want to stay around sports, I've grown up around sports," Jaelyn said. "So I think going out on the field first to help someone when they're hurt is going to be really amazing."
Jaelyn was part of something else pretty amazing earlier this year, she and her track team created a social distance parade outside of her track coach's house to thank him for all of his hard work.
"He's that guy that you just want to perform for, he's just such an amazing coach, he does a lot and sacrifices for the team, he puts a mentality that we are a family and want to perform for each other and not our self."
Selfless in life and dominant on the track, congratulations Jaelyn Davis, the News10NBC Scholar-Athlete of the Week!
