VICTOR, N.Y. (WHEC) — Despite the refreshingly warm weather over the past few days, we're still in the winter sports season and this week's Scholar-Athlete is one of the best on the slopes in Section V.
“You just have to concentrate and know what you want to do,” says Victor senior Taylor Ashe. “I just try to be really calm before the race and just try to do my best and attack the course."
Taylor Ashe did more than just attack the course at Sectionals last month, she won the Slalom competition. Reaching the top of the podium was an accomplishment that was years in the making.
"It's really cool, it's a good feeling just knowing all of our hard work pays off."
Taylor works hard away from the slopes as well, she plays soccer and plans to run track for Victor. She's also part of the National Honor Society.
"NHS is great to be a part of, it's all about volunteering which I'm really passionate about," says Taylor. "We do a lot of cool events in the community."
Next year Taylor plans to pick a major in the medical field in college, congratulations Taylor Ashe, the News10NBC Scholar-Athlete of the Week!
