ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Even though they're the best at the power play in the league, they were still trying to get better at that Monday.
A large portion of practice was dedicated to the power play.
After practice, Rochester Americans Head Coach Seth Appert said that he feels his players do better when they are competing against each other in practice.
"I think you can coach within drills and sliding up and down within the team more than and a better way of coaching than standing at the board preaching to them," Appert said. "We do a lot of games, we do games because they are fun but we also do games because they can drive the identity and competitiveness of your group."
"Any time you have that it makes it easy to be yourself and when you can be yourself it allows you to get to know your teammates better. We have a good mix of older guys and younger guys and the young guys keep the old guys young I guess," forward Ryan Scarfo said.
The Amerks' next game is Wednesday, Feb. 24 against the Syracuse Crunch.
