After reaching the playoffs for the first time in four years, it was time to get back to work for the Amerks.
Monday was the first day of training camp for Rochester, but unlike many previous seasons, this year's team is loaded with veterans and returning players who built up the core of last year's playoff team.
Chris Taylor is back as the head coach again this year. The former Amerks' captain led the team very well in his first year as a head coach last year.
After taking a look at his roster, he likes the additions of the new players to the veteran core that came back.
"We had a lot of talent, but we also add a lot of toughness, a lot of grittiness," said Chris Taylor, head coach."We add a lot of speed and that's a great combination and we just have to put it all together in the systems we want to play."
Defenseman Nathan Paetsch added, "Experience is important at this level and we also have some younger older guys you could call it that come from college and come into it at 22, 23 and can jump into this league and then you have Swedish guys that have played 3-4 years of pro hockey at a really high level. So they're called rookies but they don't really come in this league as rookies."
