ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Less than a month ago the Amerks were in first place and in cruise control heading towards the playoffs.
Nine losses in their last 10 games has caused them to reassess, but, reinforcements are here.
The Amerks have had a few tough bounces over the past few weeks.
There's no denying that as they've fallen into a seven-game losing streak, but with the reassignment of Scott Wilson, Rasmus Asplund and
Lawrence Pilut from the Sabres over the NHL All-Star break, the Amerks are hoping for a boost as they look to finish out a three-game stretch ahead of their break.
"All three of them have been part of this organization for a long couple years here, so it's great to have these guys back with their energy and enthusiasm," Head Coach Chris Taylor said.
"If you bring the best of your game all the time, it's the best way to help the team," defenceman Lawrence Pilut said.
"Guys are here," centre Scott Wilson said. "They know what's going on, but I think you gotta just turn the page. When you start thinking about the past of what kind of skid you're on, that's when it continues."
"You just have to be down as short as you can, obviously," forward Rasmus Asplund said. "I think this week is a great week for us to bounce back. Three divisional games and huge points on the scoreboard here, so it's gonna be fun to go get it."
Despite the slide, confidence is high.
Wilson, Pilot and Asplund say they're not sure where they'll between the Amerks and Sabres following the All-Star break.
