ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Athletic Training Licensure Act is going through the New York State Assembly and aims to update the scope and evolving practices of athletic trainers.
Currently, athletic trainers are certified, but the licensing process would be more strict and as the head athletic trainer for the Yankees, Steve Donahue, says, it would guarantee quality service for athletes across the state.
"As part of remaining a certified athletic trainer we have to have our continued education requirements and that's to keep our status up, to keep us current in our profession and another reason to pass this bill," Donahue said.
