Bills Mafia descends on Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WHEC) — Like many of you may be this weekend, News10NBC Sports Anchor Jackson Roberts is cheering on the Buffalo Bills in Kansas City.

Even Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown headed down.

The Bills are slated to face the Kansas City Chiefs again in an AFC playoff rematch Sunday at 6:30 p.m.

Their season ended last year with an AFC Championship loss at Arrowhead Stadium. The venue is notoriously difficult to play in because of the volume, but the support of the Bills Mafia might just carry them through.

Roberts is scoping out some Bills bars in KC, including Al’s Bar and Grill an official Bills Backer Bar—which has become something of a Western New Yorker’s Kansas City staple.

Buffalo native Al Burns runs it. He’s lived in Kansas City for 26 years, though he goes back to the 716 to visit family from time to time.

Burns says he’s expecting a huge turnout of Bills fans this weekend, and he’s even going to auction off some memorabilia.

He says it’s just special to have some fellow fans from his hometown and elsewhere in Chiefs territory.

Those bars are stocking up on Buffalo wings in anticipation. We’ll just have to see if they bought enough.

Burns tells Roberts that the bar is going to be closed on Monday, not just because it’s going to be a long weekend for his staff, but because he doesn’t expect to have anything left to serve.
