ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Bills are looking to clinch a playoff berth for the second time in three years.
They have a chance to do it on Sunday in Pittsburgh against the Steelers, who are one game behind them for the fifth seed.
It's simple from here on out for Buffalo. You win, you're in.
"I just know we're trying to go 1-0 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. If that results in us locking in a playoff spot with two games left in the season, that's a pretty dang good feeling. That's rare," Bills tight end Lee Smith said.
"We don't wanna wait around to clinch a playoff berth. We wanna win now," Bills safety Micah Hyde said. "I'm not saying it's gonna be a statement game, back against the wall, or something like that. We understand every time we strap up the pads we wanna win."
"Everybody's happy that we control our own fate, but, at the end of the day, we still gotta win. We got a job to do, and no one's happy just getting in. We wanna make some noise," Bills defensive end Jordan Phillips said.
Although how they're preparing is the same as every other week, when they're playing is a little different. They'll suit up in the primetime slot.
"As long as this group of men is with me, as long as Josh Allen's my quarterback, I'll play for breakfast lunch or dinner, but you know what—there is something to be said for earning your way to a national stage," Smith said.
"The NFL wants to showcase premiere teams, and it's cool to be in that position. Now we have to earn the right to be put on TV, and, obviously, it's a big chance for us to showcase ourselves again and, ultimately, win a playoff berth," Bills linebacker Lorenzo Alexander said.
This will be the Bills first Sunday Night Football game since 2007. Kickoff is at 8:20 p.m. right here on News10NBC.
