(WHEC) — Our Fact Check for Friday: Is the coronavirus causing a hockey stick shortage in the National Hockey League?

During the first period of Thursday night's sabers game, an NBC sports analyst said, "We were talking to equipment managers today and, because of the coronavirus, there's a shortage of sticks in the national hockey league."

Our Buffalo Affiliate attempted to verify that statement by going to a hockey supply store.

The owner of great skate says the announcer was alluding to custom sticks.

Two of the biggest suppliers of custom sticks are both in China.

So the answer is: Yes.
