ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) -- Oak Hill Country Club inducted its 44th member into their prestigious Hill of Fame.

Jay Haas won the 2008 Senior PGA at Oak Hill and has played this course in a half dozen majors.

On Wednesday, Haas joined the likes of Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and dozens of others who have greatly contributed to the game of golf and had his commemorative plaque attached to a tree on the course.

The two-time Senior PGA champion says he was first notified of the honor when Hill of Fame chairman Bill Westerfeld called him up with the news.

It was nothing short of a shock.

"He told me I was going into the Hill of Fame and I kind of chuckled at first because I thought he was kidding because I know the history of it and know the names that are in that Hill of Fame," said Haas."I know in the future people will look at it and go, 'wow look at Nicklaus and Palmer and Trevino and Eisenhower and Haas, well who's that guy? How the hell did he get in there?' I am very very honored and I just kind of get chills thinking about it."

The last time Oak Hill hosted the Senior PGA, Haas took it home.

Can he repeat his success? The first round begins Wednesday. He tees off at 1:30 p.m.
